Artspace's adjustments due to COVID-19:
Since the COVID-19 Stay at Home Order was enacted by Governor Northam, Artspace has been closed to the public but we have been offering artists scheduled to show during this time the option to reschedule or participate in our virtual exhibitions. Virtual exhibitions include videos featuring their artwork and their creative processes in addition to listing all the work from their scheduled shows on our website and featuring their pieces on our new online store. Exhibitor videos have premiered on both our Facebook page and our Youtube channel. Links to all content for our virtual shows are available on our website at artspacegallery.org.

About artspace
History + Mission
Artspace began in 1988 as an association of artists interested in exhibiting their own work and providing a space for other artists to reach a wider audience in the greater Richmond, Virginia area.

Since then, artspace has maintained a gallery committed to showing first quality visual art in a variety of innovative styles and media. The gallery has also been the forum for original work in poetry, prose, drama, dance and music. The monthly exhibitions and performance art series have placed artspace on the cutting edge of the artistic scene in Richmond.

Artspace was first located in Shockoe Bottom but moved a couple of times in the first few years, ending up at 6 E. Broad Street in the early 1990's. By 2003, the search was on for another space. Plant Zero, a new art center being developed concurrently in the Manchester District (on the south side of the James River) became the gallery's new home.

Artspace is a nonprofit gallery for the visual and performing arts, promoting the understanding and awareness of contemporary art.
