Tanasi Council had it last official event May 17, 2008, with an ice cream social for the Girl Scout Museum at Tanasi Council for the Trefoil Guild and Girl Scout Alumnae. Many brought uniforms and memorabilia for the collection.
As scouts often do, they ended the afternoon with a sing-along.

This council is merging with two others. So, we will not know what the new Girl Scout Museum will be called after the merge. The building has been sold and another larger building has been acquired and is being rehabed. I suppose we are all going through this.
The museum will be closed in August and will be moving to the new location.

Here is a neat idea to pass along.
There was a set of thick paper like kids use for science project displayes with unidentified pictures under a title of WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE? on both sides. One of the ladies said "That was my mother's day camp." Picture, date, people, and location identified.

Mre. Maeinschein and Mrs. Bridgewater going through the bag of her daughter's memorabilia.

I was there when Mrs. Bridgewater brought in a couple bags of Girl Scout memorabilia that she and her late daughter had collected.
There were some pictures of a large rally with Lady Baden Powell in Knoxville, TN in 1966 and a note from her to Sherry Bridgewater. Sherry Bridgewater was the "Scout-In -Charge " of Lady Baden Powell's visit in 1966. The note is on the Girl Scout Museum page.
The card on Mrs. Bridgewater's lap has an original handmade nail from Juliette Low's house built circa 1819.

Sherry Bridgewater's swaps from Finland. It is her picture in the case. |

 |
Sherry Bridgewater was selected to go for a "International Gatherings Abroad" in 1965 to the International Camp of the Four Winds in Finland. Mrs Bridgewater brought some of her daughter's swaps from Finland. After graduating college, she became a professional Girl Scout and served until she died of cancer in 1987. She worked in three councils. Mrs. Bridgewater told me that Girl Scouting was her daughter's life.
