The Living Light Solar House
The Living Light Solar House is the newest exhibit at Children's Museum of Oak Ridge. Built by more than 200 UT students, it was entered in the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathalon in 2011, where it received high marks in several categories, including first place in energy production. It then served as a traveling exhibit and research laboratory before arriving at its new home. The zero-energy building is now a part of the Kids Go Green! Environmental Center and Gardens and will be used to educate children and their families about generating solar power, caring for the earth, and developing conservation practices. In addition, UT faculty members will continue to monitor the home's energy productivity in order to gather more
research data about energy-efficient buildings. Call for viewing schedule.
